About
sophie waller (they/them) is a british artist and performer based in the netherlands and belgium. With experience in dance and physical theatre productions, their work spans dance, performance, video and animation. Central in their practice is the questioning of normativity and a focus on themes like monstrosity, social justice and queer/trans identity. Their work embraces the non-traditional, weird and instinctual with a playful, sensory and corporeal approach. The current focus of their practice is in feminist sci-fi, posthumanism and queer/trans identity. Looking to learn more about how the weird and imagined can influence and reflect on the present.

Each has their own interpretation of this way of being, but a knowledge which is forged and cared for together.

In the depths of another planet, creatures with watchful eyes notice your presence.
In PlAnEt FrIeNdLiEr, we are introduced to a dream-like playground based on the practice of FrIeNdLiEr WaYs Of BeInG. Which gathers approaches to interacting with our bodies, each other and the future with care, welcoming of intersectional* differences and minimisation of harm. In the form of a video installation and learning space, PlAnEt FrIeNdLiEr opens time for methods of facing collapse with imagination and play.

As a response to societal collapse under white supremacy, we try out practices of being FrIeNdLiEr. Like practicing pleasure (Pleasure Activism), practicing embodiment with our lineage and ancestry (The Embodiment Institute), working on networks of care (Disability Justice) and imagining futures or other worlds (The Faggots and Their Friends Between Revolutions).
