About
My love of stories led me to a bachelor’s degree in illustration. I gradually have come to interpret those stories more freely and decided to pursue my master’s degree in an autonomous context. I draw inspiration from the things that move me, with the passage of time as a constant factor. This is reflected in themes such as preservation and remembrance. In my work, emotion, care and an awareness of materials are important. Textile is a medium that I enjoy working with and that can translate these qualities into something tangible.
Project
The remaining administrative documents from my grandfather’s library fascinate me, their specific materiality, lines and colours in particular. My attitude towards this material is one of affection. The forms that were once functional now evoke emotional associations in me, which then merge together. Storing and sheltering, preserving and valuing blend. I do not want to leave this material behind but I want to take it with me. What once functioned to preserve something else is now being preserved itself. By engaging with it in my own, committed way, I aim to bring together memory, care and sustainability.
