About

Isa Vanderheyden is a graphic designer with a strong focus on book design and an interest in small, independent publishing practices. Within her work, she explores the book as object and carrier, where choices such as paper, binding, format, ... play a central role. Her practice moves between design, production and publication, with attention to tactility, accessibility and the relationship between content and form.

Project

SHIFT W investigates publication as an autonomous form of presentation. Through collaborations with three recent art school graduates, publications were created around their graduation projects. The limitation of budget becomes a design condition that guides form, material and reproduction. SHIFT W, the InDesign shortcut for presentation mode, approaches the book as a space for presentation and circulation.
