About
My name is Charissa Bulens and I am a master student in Applied Context at Sint Lucas Antwerp. Within my practice, I combine social themes with visual communication and graphic design.
For my practical project, I developed RESPECT in the ZAK!, an awareness campaign for the sanitation workers of the city of Antwerp. The campaign aims to create more respect and appreciation for sanitation workers, who increasingly face aggression and disrespect. By using the Antwerp garbage bag as a communication medium, I want to make solidarity visible in the public space. The project combines typography, wordplay, campaign design and digital media through redesigned garbage bags, wrappers, social media, radio spots and a campaign website.
Project
RESPECT in de ZAK! is an awareness campaign for the sanitation workers of the city of Antwerp. They are increasingly confronted with aggression and a lack of respect, despite the valuable work they do for the city every day. The mission of the campaign is to create a movement of solidarity and appreciation for sanitation workers, using the garbage bag as a central communication medium.
